physically speaking...
1. eliza falls down a lot, but she scrambles back up quickly.
2. claire has to look up at most people, but eliza is one person she can look down to see.
3. the kids have been getting up at a more reasonable time, and they go down at night fairly easily, too. (oh shoot, did i just jinx myself?)
4. if she's out of her comfort zone, eliza wants "up," but if there's something to explore, she wiggles to get down.
5. claire loves to dress up as Felicity, a character in the books she doesn't want us to put down.

1. Colin climbs up the play structure, only to jump down from the top.
2. Mackenzie's class is up on the 3rd floor, next year she will be down on the lower level.
3. I trimmed the edge of the ceiling on the latter and the edge of the baseboards down on my knees when painting.
4. Don ran the plumbing from down in the basement up to the tub.
5. With the wind, the kite went up, and without the wind the kite came down when we were visiting you.

4. hunkering down at work so we can head up to Crex Meadows worry-free
